Founder and Certified Forest School Teacher
Master of Social Work, Georgia State University
Growing up in rural Mississippi, Wendy was presented with opportunities to connect with nature on a daily basis. She fondly remembers spending most of her play time with friends in the woods and pastures of her family's farm. It was through these early childhood experiences, freely exploring nature, that she learned to respect, love and honor our natural world.
Wendy received her Bachelors and Masters in Social Work from Georgia State University. After relocating to California, she worked with a non-profit as a Foster Family Adoption Social Worker supporting Resource Families and children transitioning from foster care to permanency. During this time, she also became a parent herself.
Experiencing the positive developmental effects nature has on children, both in her career and as a parent, led Wendy to establish Urban Woods Forest School. Her focus is to provide children with a rich learning environment while guiding them and their families in cultivating a deep and caring connection with nature. Wendy received her Forest School Teacher Certification through The Cedarsong Way in Vashon, Washington and utilizes nature as a grounding source for herself and her family daily.
